Mrs. Mary H. Bailey, widow of W. F. Bailey, died at 1:15 this morning at the family home, 615 North Seventh Ave. She had been in poor health for two years and had been bed fast for the last four weeks. Funeral services will be held at the home Thursday afternoon at two o'clock and burial will be in the Elm Grove cemetery. Mary H. Varner, a daughter of Conrad and Amanda (Brookhart) Varner, was born in Columbus City, Iowa, October 31, 1848. She was married to Willard Franklin Bailey on October 8, 1868. The family moved to Washington in September 1885 and this had been their home ever since.

The husband died May 7, 1907 and a daughter, Cora Agusta, died March 3, 1894. Six children survive: Mrs. Franc Cunningham and Mrs. Harriet Phillips of Washington, Mrs. Olda Minitier of Grundy Center, Iowa, Mrs. Ethel Flynn of Riverside, Iowa, Mrs. Edna Flynn and Merle Franklin Bailey of Washington; also two sisters; Mrs. Martha Morgan of Howard Lake, Minn and Mrs. Katherine Adams of Grand Forks, North Dakota. She united with the Baptist church at Columbus City in 1877. She was also a member of the Woman's Relief Corps.
