Charles Fath, an aged and highly respected resident of the Harrison neighborhood, near Wapello, died Saturday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. M. Leyda. He had been in failing health for many months. Charles Fath was born in Germany, October 20, 1837 and came with his parents to the United States in 1846, locating in Buffalo, N. Y. In 1854 the family came to Iowa and settled in Louisa county. On September 13, 1861,he was united in marriage to Charlotte Dollarhide and they celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary last September. Six children were born to them, two dying in infancy and Emma at the age of twenty-three years. Those surviving are: Ida, the wife of H. M. Leyda; Leroy A., of Muscatine and Guy of Wapello.

Mr. Fath was engaged in farming and stock raising until compelled to give up work on account of old age. Deceased was an elder in the U. P. church at Harrison and served on the school board one term. Funerals services were held from the Leyda home Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. P. Ludwig. Interment in the Harrison cemetery.
