Mr. Ira Owen, an aged citizen passed to the great beyond Sunday morning, March 4, at 7:30 a. m. at his home in Conesville. He had been in his usual health and was in town twice on Saturday. In the night he complained to his wife that he was not feeling well and had quite a pain on his right side. This was about 3 o'clock in the morning. He dropped to sleep and later awoke feeling quite poorly. Mrs. Owen called Dr. English about 7. In less than 10 minutes he had passed away.

Ira Owen, son of Elijah and Hannah Owen, was born in Lake county, Ohio near the town of Perry, August 29, 1829 and died at his home in Conesville, Iowa, March 4, 1917 at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 5 days. At the age of seven years he with his parents removed from Ohio going to Steuben Co, Indiana, where he spent early manhood and was married to Miss Lucinda C. Heath, August 12, 1852. To this union were born two children, H. D., dying in early childhood and Alden I Owen, who died at Greeley, Colorado, September 24, 1880, his wife wife dying July 31, 1860.

He was again united in marriage to Catherine L. Heath, August 19, 1862, a sister to his first wife. To this union two children were born Herbert H. Owen and Mrs. Bertha O. McCormick, both of Conesville. The funeral was held Monday at 2 p. m. from the Reformed church, Rev. Harvey Butler being in charge reading the 30th psalm. Interment in Conesville cemetery.
