Harry Robert Powers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Powers, of near Nichols, died at his home Tuesday evening, September 14, 1915, after a brief illness with spinal menegitis. Harry was born on a farm in Concord township, May 16, 1899 and spent all his life in that township until about two years ago he moved with his parents to a farm near Nichols. He was a fine young man and his death just as he was entering young manhood comes as a terrible grief to his parents and relatives and friends. He was industrious, energetic and ambitious and took an active interest in school work as well as in the work of the farm. He is survived by his grief stricken parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Powers and by two sisters, Mrs. Cecil McKean and Eva at home and four brothers, Frank of western Iowa, and George, David and Forest at home. He is also survived by his grandfather, D. W. Cross, of Fredonia. Mrs. C. B. Clark, of this city is an aunt. The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the home of his grandfather in Fredonia conducted by Rev. J. R. Hammond, of Wapello. Interment was made in the Indian Creek cemetery.
