George Wagner died at his residence in Louisa county, Iowa, March 23, 1915, aged 79 years, 8 months and 20 days. George Wagner was born in Dauphin county, Pennsylvania, July 5, 1835. In the spring of 1856 he came to Iowa. On November 30, 1857, he was married to Miss Mariah Doman. To them were born seven children four of whom are are still living. They are Mrs. Emma Crull of Fredonia; Charles E. Wagner, at home; Mrs. Ida Karns, of Wilton and Mrs. Della Hamilton, of Nichols. Besides these children he leaves twenty grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He enlisted in the Union army in the fall of 1864 and served until the close of the war. In 1857 he was converted and united with the Church of God in which he was an earnest worker and faithful member, until called into the church triumphant. On the 15th of last November his wife died, and after fifty-eight years of association with her he was left for a few months to finish life's journey along. A few days ago he attended the G. A. R. reunion at Letts. The funeral services were conducted at his home north of Fredonia on Saturday, March 27, by the Rev. E. C. Brooks of the Columbus Junction Methodist Episcopal church. The interment was in their home cemetery.
