Mrs. Eliza Turkington Reaney died at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Rev. John W. Pool, in Moulton, Iowa, on Sunday October 25, 1914, at three o'clock a. m., aged 81 years, 6 months and 7 days. Eliza Turkington was born in County Armaugh, Ireland, April 18, 1833. She moved with her parents to County Tyrone when she was but one year old. Here she grew to womanhood. On the 28th day of July, 1854, she was united in marriage to Joseph Reaney. To this home were born eight children, Robert J., of Columbus Junction; Sam, of Eugene, Oregon; Thomas, Joseph L. and William J., of Waterloo; Mrs. Mary Blankenhorn, of Letts; Mrs. John W. Pool, of Moutlton and Mrs. Lizzie Thompson. These children are now living with the exception of Mrs. Thompson, whose death occured July 17, 1901.

Mrs. Reaney came to this country in 1863. Her husband came six months earlier. At that time it took four weeks to cross the ocean. When she came she had in her care the three oldest children, Robert, Thomas and Sam, ages 7, 4 and 1 respectively. For eight years they made their home in Chester, Pennsylvania. In 1871 they came to Iowa and settled on a farm near Columbus Junction. The farm was their home for twenty-seven years. Columbus Junction was her home for three years and for a few years she made her home with her youngest son, William, but for the last thirteen years she has been living with her daughter, Mrs. John W. Pool.

She was converted at the age of fifteen and identified herself with the church. For a number of years she was with her husband a member of the Presbyterian church in Columbus Junction, but for the last fifteen years she was again identified with the Methodist Episcopal church.

The death of her husband, Joseph, occured March 8, 1889, thus leaving her a widow for the last twenty-five years of her life. Her death occured at three o'clock Sabbath morning October 25, 1914 at the advanced age of 81 years, 6 months and 7 days. In addition to the members of her family named above she is survived by two brothers, Christy Turkington of Keota and James Turkington of Letts. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal church of Columbus Junction on Tuesday, October 27, 2 p. m. and were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. E. C. Brooks, assisted by Rev. Thomas Pool, of Mt. Pleasant, the Rev. T. M. Balcoff, pastor of the Presbyterian church of Columbus Junction and Rev. T. F. Barker, of Keota. In the Fredonia cemetery by the side of her husband the body was laid to rest.
