Friday morning, October 16, 1914, at 3:30 o'clock, Mr. John Ayers Sellers, for many years a resident of Cairo, in this county, died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Green, 411 E. Madison street, Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Sellers was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Sellers. He was born in Clarke county Ohio, July 1, 1836. In 1844 the family removed to Louisa county, settling near what is now known as Cairo. He was converted early in life and united with the Prairie Chapel Methodist Episcopal church. Growing up to manhood, he met Hannah Lunbeck, and winning her heart and hand, led her to God's alter, December 31, 1857. Many happy years they spent together until death summoned her twenty-three years ago.

Six children were born to them. Three sons and one daughter passed away early in life. Two daughters, Mrs. Wm. H. Rutt, of Cairo and Mrs. L. W. Green, of Mt Pleasant survive. One brother, Mr. Reese Sellers of Cairo and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Freeman, of Columbus Junction, Mrs. Eli Webster, of Morning Sun and Mrs. Joseph Allen, of Cairo also remain beside eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. For the past year and four months Mr. Seller has made his home with his daughter in Mt Pleasant. He had been in failing health for many years. His last sickness continued for about one week. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Thomas Osborn, D. D. pastor of the First M. E. church, were held at the home in Mt. Pleasant Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. Then the remains were taken by train to Cairo.
