Mrs. Levi Metzgar. Alice Maud Pierson, daughter of Sineus and Margaret Pierson, was born at Delta, Iowa, September 12, 1880 and departed this life at her home in Elm Grove township, Louisa county, Iowa, Thursday, July 23, 1914, aged 33 years, 10 months and 11 days. Being left an orphan when but a few months old she was taken in by Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Buffington, of the Spring Run community. She was united in marriage with Levi Metzger, at Winfield, April 11, 1901 and they made their home of the Metzgar farm where she passed away. She is survived by four sisters, Mary A. Brainerd, of Delta; Annie E. Paxson, of Cairo; Maggie E. Young, of Winfield and Blanche R. Gregory, of Ness City, Kansas; and two brothers, John W. of Missouri and Elmer L., of Drakeville. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Metger as follows: Nathan, Ronald, Russell Lee, Berdie Matilda, (Pauline Margaret, deceased) and Isola May, who with the husband and father mourn her loss. The funeral services were held Sunday at the M. E. church in Winfield, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. A. Longnecker, assisted by Rev. Miller, of Grandview. Interment in the Winfield cemetery.
