Mrs. C. W. Bennet. Sarah E. Hawkin, daughter of Geo. and Mary Waltham Hawkins, was born January 7, 1841; at Constantine, Mich., and departed this life January 11, 1914, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Davidson, Bristow, Neb. She was married April 17, 1859 at Constantine, where they lived for a number of years before removing to Iowa. To this union were born eight children: Mrs. Rachel Shoop, Rock Island, Texas, J. N. of Muscatine; Mrs. Emma Davidson, Bristow, Neb; G. W. of Letts; Norman of Bristow, Neb.; Niles and John of Letts; Mrs. Hattie Jones of Muscatine, all of whom are living. Twenty-four children and nine great grandchildren also survive her. Her beloved husband died about two years ago. Mrs. Bennett had been a sufferer for years. The remains were brought on Tuesday to the home of her son, Geo. W., near Letts. The funeral was held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at Pleasant Grove Bethel, Rev. Barker of Letts officiating. Interment at Indian Creek cemetery.
