A gloom of sadness was cast over Union township Sunday when it was announced that William Whitaker, a well known resident had passed away at 4 o'clock after a short illness of pneumonia. William Whitaker was born in Indiana, June 30, 1848 and departed this life, March 23, 1913. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Whitaker and five children, Harriet Paton of Oakville, Rhoda Turner of near Conesville, Frank of Union township, Perren of New Boston, Ill., and Mrs John Manley. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren. A short service was held at the home Monday afternoon by Rev. Thomas Devore. Interment in the Beauchamp cemetery.
