page 1Mrs. Harley Meeker, a well know resident of Columbus Junction, passed away at her home Monday morning after an illness of more than a year. She has been very low for several weeks and her death was not unexpected. Clara Lillian Singleton was born near Conesville, September 27, 1876 and grew to womanhood in this vicinity. She was married to Harley Meeker, February 14, 1901 and moved to this city which has since been their home. She is survived by her husband and four young children as follows: three sons, Thomas, Vernon and Arthur and one little daughter, Pearl, who is just 16 months old Sunday. She is also survived by her father, Edward Singleton and one sister, Mrs. Elmer Meeker of Phoenix, Arizona and three brothers, Ross of Muscatine and Floyd and Verne of near Keota. Funeral services were held at the Reformed church Wednesday morning January 22, 1913, at ten o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. E. Ewing, assisted by Rev. T. M. Balcoff. Interment in the cemetery at Letts.
