Katherine Hagan, a well known resident of Columbus Junction, passed away at the hospital at Mt. Pleasant, Thursday afternoon, January 9, 1913, after a brief illness. Katherine Burris was born in Ireland about the year 1832 and at the time of her death she was past eighty years of age. In Ireland she was married to W. L. Hagan and came with him to America. After living at different places they finally located on a farm near Letts. Later they moved to Columbus Junction where her husband preceded her in death, November 4, 1911.

Since that time her mind has been afflicted and the greater part of the time she had been kept at Mt. Pleasant for treatment. She is survived by one sister, Miss Lizzie Burna, who since the death of Mr. Hagan has been making this her home. Funeral services were held at Mt. Pleasant Saturday morning and the remains were placed in a temporary vault. It is the plan of her sister to build a vault at the Columbus City cemetery next spring and remove the body there for its final resting place.
