John M. Morgan, a pioneer resident of Louisa county, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 15, at 6 o'clock at the home of his son, John, southwest of Columbus City, after a few weeks illness. He suffered a stroke of paralysis a short time ago, which with his advanced age of 83 years, made his recovery impossible. Deceased was born in Wales, Sept. 10, 1830 and came to Iowa with his parents in 1844. They settled in the Welsh neighborhood and he remained on the farm with them until he was 21 years of age, when he bought the home farm resided there until the year 1905, when he moved to Columbus City. On Feb. 27, 1865, he was united in marriage to Ann Lewis, who preceded him in death but a few months. Four sons were born to them: John M., of Columbus Junction; Abia, of Aberdeen, S. D.; Louis, of Dawn, Mo., and Thomas, deceased. Mr. Morgan was a member of the Congregational church and was a consistent Christian man. The funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon. Interment was made in the Columbus City cemetery.
