Rufus R. Wolford was born in Allegheny county, Maryland, January 25, 1850 and died in St. Louis, Missouri, December 2, 1912. Early in life he moved to Ohio and later came to Iowa where he was married to Miss Mary E. VanHorn at Muscatine June 10, 1871. From that time until about eight years ago they lived on a farm in the vicinity of Conesville and enjoyed the esteem and respect of a wife circle of friends. Mr. Wolford while at Cone was a devoted member of the Reformed church and for a number of years he was a member of the consistory. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and three sons and four brothers. The sons are: Hal C., and Clyde of St. Louis and Ray V. of Thomasville, Georgia. One daughter preceded him in death. The surviving brothers are: William L. of Union City, Ind., Alfred B. of Pawnee City, Neb., Sylvester C. of Lone Tree and Frank P. of Benton City, Wash. The remains were brought to Conesville for interment where funeral services were held from the reformed church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. O. Hawk of Lone Tree and Rev. C. E. Ewing of Conesville. Interment was made in the Conesville cemetery.
