The many friends of Mrs. T. B. Cross in Louisa county were deeply grieved last Sunday morning when the word came from her home that death had called her away during the night at her home near Grandview. Her death resulted from injuries received about ten day ago in a run away accident at Grandview. She had taken her daughter to the depot at Grandview to take the train to Wapello and was turning the horse around just as the train pulled in. The horse became frightened at the approaching engine and turned quickly throwing Mrs. Cross violently against the cement curbing. She struck on her forehead and fractured her skull, one limb was also badly crushed. She regained consciousness the following day but all that medical skill could do was not able to save her life.

Sarah Jane Foster was born in Louisa county near Fredonia, February 9, 1861 and died November 9, 1912. She was converted in early life and united with the Church of God and lived a devoted and consistent Christian life to the last. She was united in marriage to Thomas Cross, September 6, 1888. To this union was born five children, the youngest, Sarah Ellen, passing away in infancy. The surviving children are: Edna B., Ralph E., Alvin J. and Zena, all at home. J. of Letts and S. D. of Conesville. One sister, Lydia Henderson, preceded her in death. Funeral service were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Pleasant Grove Bethel conducted by Rev. A. E.
