In the death of George Beik, which occurred at his home in Grandview township Monday of this week, Louisa county lost one of her leading citizens. Mr. Beik was born in Germany, but came to this country when very young with his father's family. They settled on the old Beik homestead as early, we should day, as 1845, and that was his home until his death. He leaves two brothers who live in the same neighborhood and a sister whose home is in Muscatine; his wife and a number of children of his immediate family. He was a member of the Church of God and an I. O. O. F. being connected with the lodge at this place. His funeral, which occurred yesterday from the home, was one of the largest ever held in Louisa county. He was buried at Grandview cemetery under the auspices of the Odd fellows, many of that society from this place, Wapello and other points being in attendance.
