Little Jean Reland, the infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Spence Paxton, passed away at the home on South Hill on Saturday, February 16 about noon. She had been suffering with a severe cold for nearly two weeks and had also had a gathering in her head, but was not supposed to be seriously ill until Friday when she became suddenly very bad and it was thought the brain had become affected. She was almost eleven months old and was a sweet and interesting baby. Besides the mother and father, two sisters and two brothers are left to mourn the little one. The baby was a member of the Cradle Roll of the Presbyterian Sunday school and hers is the first death to occur in this little band. The funeral services was conducted by Rev. Vance, pastor of the Presbyterian church, on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home and the little one was tenderly laid away beside the little brother who had preceded her, in the Columbus cemetery.
