The funeral services of John Higgens occurred just after those of Mr. Green, at the Methodist Church. This was a particularly sad death. Mr. Higgens had been spending some time here and had gone to Missouri, where he owned a farm. He went there to prepare a home for his daughter and her family and expected to spend his declining days with her. He went away from here on Friday and on Saturday was found dead in the road by William Siverly. His son George went and with his sister, Mrs. Williams of Nebraska, brought the remains here for burial. He leaves two sons, George and Guy and his daughters, Mrs. Williams of Nebraska; Margaret Finley and Sophronia. Both these burials were in Elmwood cemetery.
