Mr. Charles H. Green, who lived three miles south-west of Wapello, died at the University hospital , Iowa city, where he had been under treatment, June 16, 1906, aged 53 years. His wife and seven children survive. A peculiarly sad feature of this death is, that his wife had gone to the hospital to assist in his care and was taken seriously ill several days before his death and was too sick to see the dead body of her husband or return with it for burial, and on the morning of burial, the elder daughter was summoned to the bedside of her mother, and in going, she passed the dead body of her father but was unable to see him, hence, there were but the five children of the immediate family permitted to attend the burial. Mr. Green was a good man, a member of the Presbyterian church of this city. The funeral services occurred from the church Monday afternoon, conducted by his pastor, Rev. M. E. Todd.
