S. H. Duncan dead after weary months of suffering, borne without a murmur, Mr. Duncan passed peacefully away at his home at this place between 12 and 1 o'clock this morning. Samuel Hamilton Duncan was born in Blout county, Tennessee, June 30, 1843. He was the second of ten children. His father was the late George B. Duncan who moved to Iowa when Samuel was only six weeks old. Since his coming here his home has always been in Louisa county. When seventeen years of age he enlisted in co. F. 25th Iowa infantry and served faithfully until he was mustered out at the close of the war. On September 5, 1868, he was married to Miss Mary Jane Tedford. She and four of the five children born to them, survive the death of a beloved husband and father.

The funeral will be held at the home Saturday, May 26, a 2 p. m. in the absence of the pastor, Rev. J. C. Marshall, the services will be conducted by Rev. A. S. Bailey, of Ainsworth. The surviving children are Lucy Anna Duncan and Clyde, who live at the father's home, Mrs. A. R. Acheson and George N., both of whom are married and live near old Clifton. Besides these he leaves three sisters, Mrs. A. H. Parsons, of this place; Mrs. W. H. Ogler, of Kansas City and Mrs. Joseph Wear, of Bernard, Kansas and three brothers, John, who lives in Kansas, James R., of Omaha and Joseph C., of Winfield. Mr. Duncan was a member of the U. P. church and an unfaltering democrat. He never wavered in his allegiance to either his church or his party, because he believed both right.
