The remains of Mrs. Saunders, formerly Mattie Huff were brought from St. Joseph, Mo., and buried at Wapello Wednesday morning, May 2, the funeral services being held at the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. Reuah, the pastor. Mrs. Saunders died at her home in St. Joseph, February 8, 1906, after an illness of nine days of pneumonia. She was the eldest daughter and the last surviving child of the late John Huff and was born, brought up and educated at Grandview. The remains were kept in a vault at St. Joseph until the weather became mild, so that the aged mother could come to the funeral. The remains were accompanied by the husband, J. E. Saunders, the mother, Mrs. Huff, and Mrs. Huff's brother, I. H. Robbins, of Emporia, Kansas. Mrs. Saunders left no children. Mrs. Huff will remain in Wapello and make her home with Mr. and Mrs. J. B.
