Wapello, October 24 - The sad new came to this city Thursday morning of the death of August Korn at his home in Jefferson township. He had been afflicted with consumption for a number of years and was taken to his bed about three weeks ago and grew weaker until death came. Deceased was born in this city, April 25, 1858 and was the son of August and Katherine Korn. He grew to manhood in this community and on March 28, 1883 was united in marriage to Miss Lydia Brendel. To this union were born ten children, eight of whom are still living, six girls and two boys. Besides wife and children, he leaves to mourn his death, his mother and two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Essner and Mrs. R. E. Peters, all residents of Wapello. Funeral services were held from the late home Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by the Revs. J. P. Hehuer and M. E. Reusch, assisted by Louisa Lodge, No. 19, I. O. O. F. Interment in the Mallory cemetery.
