Hubbard Van Dyke, the seven year old son of D. W. van Dyke of Fredonia, was drowned about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. An older brother, Ben, Carl Skipton and the boy were out fishing. The boy had his clothes off and was catching frogs for bait, when he slipped into a hole washed out by the high waters and was drowned before help could reach him. It was an hour or more before the body was recovered. The drowning occurred in Mrs. Chapman's corn field, below Fredonia. He was buried this morning.
