All knew she was seriously ill, but few thought she would pass so soon from us, so when it was announced Tuesday morning that Mrs. Russell was dead, it came as a sudden and unexpected shock to all. Mrs. Huldah A. Russell, wife of John J. Russell, passed away at her home at this place, at 11:30 p. m. Monday, February 13, 1905. Her illness had been of about three weeks duration, begin with an attack of the grip and terminating in something like pneumonia. Her husband and all but one of the children were with her at the end which was a peaceful one.

Huldah Adelia White was born near Liberty, Indiana, November 6, 1837. She died at he home in this place February 13, 1905. She was married to John Jackson Russell, November 18, 1858. With him she came to Clifton, Iowa in 1865. This was their home for ten years when they came to Columbus Junction, which continued to her abiding place until death. Of the nine children born to them, five are living. These are Mrs. Florence E. Wilcox of this place; George W. of Kansas City; Mr. Lillie M. Thompson, of Burlington; Mrs. Dasie E. O'Connor, of this place, and Harrison E. of Burlington. Those who have gone before were John E. who died in 1871; Maggie M., in 1867; Francis R., in 1876 and Mertie K. in 1882.

Mrs. Russell was a devoted Christian woman, in every relation of life. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She has been associated with some church organizations since childhood. Was a member of the Evangelical congregation at this place until it disbanded when she transferred her membership to the Methodist church in which she has always been a true and faithful worker. The funeral was conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. C. Kendrick, at the Methodist church, Wednesday at 1 o'clock p. m. The interment followed at the Columbus City cemetery.
