Israel Rice, for many years a resident of this county, just north of Morning Sun, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. L. Hall, Elgin, on Sunday, November 13. He will be remembered by all the people in the south end of Louisa county and at Mediapolis, where his home base has been since leaving this county. Funeral was held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. F. Tuck at Mediapolis, Tuesday afternoon, burial at cemetery near that place. He was born in Boone county, Ky., November 4, 1824, the being just passed the 80th milestone. He had been a consistent member of the Methodist church for a great many years. come to Iowa from Ohio in 1854. Leaves two children living, Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Tuck. Mr. Rice's last visit at Columbus Junction was during our Chautauqua, which he attended during the entire meeting. Went to Illinois on a visit in September where he was stricken with the disease that terminated fatally.
