Owen Williams was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, September 29, 1831 and died at his home near Cotter, Iowa, September 14, 1904 and was buried at Ainsworth. When a boy he moved with his parents to Columbia County, whence, after several years, he again moved to Luzerna County where he spent the great part of his life. He was married in 1859 to Miss Eliza Vanghan who, with two sons and two daughters, survive him. These are Fred, George, Mary and Florence. At the beginning of the Civil War he enlisted Company C, 178 Pennsylvania volunteers. He was always an active member of the Grand Army of the Republic until he came to Iowa, in 1882. When his health failed and he was a great sufferer for many years. In 1900 he moved to Washington, and lived three years, after which he moved back to his home. In politics he was a life long republican.
