On Thursday evening, February 4, at about 9 o'clock Mrs. Thompson passed to the great beyond. She leaves to mourn her going, her husband, three son and two daughters, besides several grandchildren, two little grandchildren living with her. She was born February 6, 1850, in Barien county, Michigan, and came with her parents to Hamilton county, Iowa, at the age of two years. Three years later she came to Louisa county, which has since been her home. Here in 1869 she was married to Jacob S. Thompson.

She was a sincere christian for many years and an earnest student of her bible. When she was told she could not recover she was ready and willing to go, her only regret being for the dear ones who so much needed her care. Three children died in infancy and the remaining ones are Mrs. Della Hampton of Muscatine, William, Margaret, Everett and Frank, all at home. Mr. Thompson is nearly blind and the youngest son lost one hand by an accident some years since.

Mrs. Thompson was a loving and self sacrificing mother, devoting herself to her family. Her maiden name was Adeline Blake and she had been a sufferer with consumption for a number of years. When she was attacked with pneumonia she was not able to resist the disease and passed away in about five days. Short services were conducted by Prof. Hamil of Grandview at the home in this place on Saturday, February 6. Funeral services were held at Pleasant Grove Bethel and interment was at the Thompson cemetery, near her old home.
