Harry Boyer was born in Des Moines county, Iowa, February 24, 1854. Died at his home near Bard, Iowa December 16, 1903, aged forty-nine years, ten months and twenty-six days. His mother died when he was eight years old, and his father died August 26, 1099. He was united in marriage with Miss Hester Mahurin, February 1, 1894, who with a stepmother, four brothers, five sisters and a host of friends survive to mourn his loss. He made an open confession of Christ twelve years, and his life has ever since proved his fidelity. Although he had been ailing for about a month, his death was wholly unexpected. He had gone out, about noon, to feed the cow, and did not come back as soon as expected. The wife inquired, by telephone of a neighbor, if he was there. As he was not, they immediately went to his home to search for him, where they found him lying dead in the barn. The cause of his death was heart disease. Harry was a man of perfect honesty and genial disposition, a friend to every one, and his friends are numbered by those who knew him. The funeral occurred from the Long Creek German M. E. church, Friday December 18, conducted by Rev. Schultze, of Wapello, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Wapello cemetery.
