Helen E. Barnett was born October 7, 1886 and died November 8, 1903 at her home in Letts, Iowa. She was the only daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. W. T. Barnett, and had spent all of how young life in Letts with the exceptions of the time spent in the Iowa Wesley University the past two years. In Helen's life at home and abroad she had truly been a beam of sunshine which parents, brothers and friends realize the more since the cloud ? darkened and lowered and finally hid it from view. Helen was graduated from the public schools of Letts with the class of 1901. Her school life was indeed ideal. Posessed of an unusaly bright mind, together with a willing eagerness to learn, she was at once a comfort and inspiration to her teachers, and a useful, helpful companion to her school mates.

Helen's earth life was cut off just as she had reached the place which it was her anxiety to reach, yet when her education may be finished in the great beyond with the presence of the Great Teacher to guide and direct, and ? from the sorrows and bewilderment of this world. Her heart was like and open book upon which the name of God's beloved Son was written. The most hallowed recollections will cluster about her radiant earth life of the beautiful young spirit now in the presence of God's glory where she has exceeding joy. Her illness was one in which the patience of a saint was made manifest. Amid the encroachments of an insidious disease, she was surprisingly gentle and meekly waited and murmured not. She would have remained had God so decided, for this side of Jordan were many loved ones. But when the hour drew near in which she neared the holy ranks of friends and kindred dear, she said to the tender hearted and true who were about her bedside, "I will wait at the gate of the city for you," and also said "I wish that Jesus would come quickly."
