Isaac Foster died at his home near this place Sunday evening, October 25, at 9 o'clock. He had been ailing for months but not considered dangerously so until but a few days before his death when he suddenly took a turn for the worse and the end soon came. Mr. Foster was born in Pike county, Ohio, April 7, 1835, thus being something over 68 years of age at the time of his death. He was was a pioneer in Iowa, having come to this state in 1851. Was first a resident of Muscatine county, coming to this county shortly after, but subsequently going to near Wilton which was his home until 1884 since which time his home has been in Columbus Junction and its immediate vicinity.

He was married three times, his first wife living but a short time after their marriage. In 1856, July 3, he was married to Miss Millie J. Wood, who died May 9, 1883. He was again united in marriage on November 11, 1885, to Miss Maggie C. Friedericksen who survives him. Mr. Foster is survived by fourteen children, eight by his second wife and six by the present widow. The older children are F. W. of Marengo; Clara A. Toland and Luther E., Mt. Aetna; T. M., North English; E. T. and D. R., of this place; Mrs. Mary Michener, Chicago, and Mrs. Millie Argo, Adrian, Illinois. The younger family, all of whom are at home with the mother, are Flora, Elsie, Ernest, Cleo, Lillian and Helen. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. C. K. Staudt of the Reformed church, were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and were largely attended. Interment at Wilton the day following at 10 o'clock, where he now rests beside other members of his family.
