Our community was shocked to learn this morning of the death at 9 o'clock last night of Mrs. Susie Letts, wife of the late W. H. Letts, whose death occurred only two short months ago. Her only son, Howard, who is a student in the University of Pennsylvania, was telegraphed for as was the only sister, Mrs. Rhoda Sprague, Council Bluffs, but her death came too soon to allow either to see her alive. Mrs. Letts was before her marriage which occurred in 1874, Miss Susie Lacey, daughter of Sheriff E. B. Lacey, long a resident of the county. She was born in Huickley, Ohio in 1855 and came to Iowa with her parent and made her home in Grandview. She leaves two daughters and one son, three brothers and one sister, and a host of friends to mourn her departure. The brothers are E. R. Lacy of this place and Philemon Lacey of Burlington and Curtis Lacey, Wapello. She was a member of the Presbyterian church. Arrangements for the funeral cannot be completed until the son, Howard arrives, but it will probably be on Saturday with interment at Grandview.
