February 5, 1902, at the home of her sister, Mrs. W. B. Gelatt, occurred the death of Mrs. Katie Belle Bliven. She was born March 6, 1871, consequently she was almost 31 years of age at her death. Her mother died while she was less than nine years of age, depriving her of a mother's love and care. She naturally clung to her father for protection and sympathy and there sprung up between them such an attachment as rarely occurs, even between a parent and child. During her last sickness of six long and weary weeks, that aged father was constantly by her bedside. None could soothe the pain as well as he, and he never grew weary of his loving task.

In September 1889, the deceased was married to Frank Worley. The union was a most unhappy one. She was separated from him by divorce two years ago and to her was given the custody of the four little children who survive to mourn the loss of a mother's care and undying love. She barely undertook to support them by the work of her hands and had succeeded and had even laid by a little sum with which to take them on a little journey this spring to visit friends in the western part of the state, when the crushing weight of a great wrong came to her little family; a blow from which she never recovered and now they are left destitute, to the care of their friends. Belle Bliven, through life had much more than her share of the bitter. The children left are respectively four, six, eight and eleven years old. What disposition is to be made of them is not yet definitely determined.
