Sarah Pearson Lupton was born in England, February 13, 1827. She died at her home at this place, January 11, 1902. This would make her almost seventy five years of age. She was married to James Lupton in 1845 and came to America in 1854, settling on a farm in Concord township.

Her husband died twenty years ago. Since 1891 her home has been on Columbus Junction. She was the mother of eleven children, six of whom survive her. These are John, William and James and Mrs ? Barnard of Kansas, Mrs. Carrie Roddan of Dexter, Iowa and Miss Alice with who she made her home. Services were conducted by Revs. Adams and Orr at the church in Fredonia on Monday, January 13; interment at Fredonia cemetery.
