Mrs. Rebecca Fetterman. Rebecca Haifley was born in ,Maryland, August 26, 1827, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Paxson, of heart trouble, September 15, 1901, aged 74 years and 19 days. She was first married to Jacob D. Fleagle. In 1861 they removed to this state. The following year Mr. Fleagle enlisted in Co. B 25th Iowa Infantry, and died at Helena, Arkansas, November 19, 1863. After remaining a widow several years, and was united in marriage to David Fetterman, who preceded her to the better land just three months and 12 days. She was the mother of four children, all of whom together with two step children, an aged brother, many relatives and a host of friends mourn her departure. Her death was very sudden, yet, the comforting thought to the surviving relatives and friends is that death found her ready to depart and be with Christ, as she had settled the great question of salvation in her early girlhood, uniting with the Church of God of which she was a member until her death. She was not only a professor, but a possessor of the religion of the Lord Jesus Christ, showing by her daily walk that she loved the Lord and lived for His glory. No one having enjoyed the hospitality of Father and Mother Fetterman can ever forget the greeting, the pleasant smiles the instructive, cheerful and elevating conversation and the quiet demeanor of this aged couple. They both left the impress of a devoted Christian life and example. But they do not need our eulogy. Their life and work are their best tributes, and those that knew them bet sorrowed most because they should see them no more on earth. Mother and Father Fetterman are gone and our tears fall, yet they are tears of affection rather than sottow, evidencing the strong hold they had upon our hearts. May the grace of our blessed Lord rest upon the bereaved ones and may all put their trust in God and live for Heaven. Funeral services were conducted at the U. B. church by Elder J. M. Mullen assisted by Rev. Ballard. Then with sadness of heart, her body was committed to the dust in the Columbus City cemetery in the confident hope that in the springtime of the world's redemption we shall meet her in that country into which she has gone to take possession of the better things God had for her.
