Yesterday, June 12, at the home of his son Isaac, in Mediapolis, occurred the death of Elder George Stone. He was a pioneer of Louisa county, coming here as early as 1842. He was born in New Jersey in 1819, August 16. He was, therefore, almost 85 years old at the time of his death. Two years after coming to Iowa, that is in 1844, He was married to Janet Roddan, a resident of Concord township. Mrs. Stone died in 1897. Since that time Mr. Stone has made his home with the three children living in this vicinity, Mrs. I Church of this place, Mrs. C. Rhodes of Wapello and Isaac of Mediapolis. besides, there three other children survive him, Joshua of Colorado, John of California and Rebecca Stroup of the same state.

Mr. Stone had long been a member of the Church of God, or those who accept the interpretation of the Scriptures given by Winebrenner. In his capacity of elder, he frequently preached to the members of that organization. Up to within a very few years he was a man of great vitality for on of his age. But a stroke of paralysis suffered a year or so ago made him something of an invalid. A few days hence, he suffered from another stroke, which terminated in his death. The funeral occurred this afternoon at Pleasant Grove Bethel, conducted by Rev. Miller of Mt. Pleasant. He was buried at the Indian Creek cemetery.
