Nine years ago little Bessie Humiston first felt the pangs of rheumatism, but it was not until last Friday morning, May 24, that her almost constant sufferings were ended by her peaceful death. She had been bedfast the greater part of the last three months and, though her suffering, at times must have been intense, seldom a word of complaint or even an irritable one ever passed her lips. When the final moment came, she gladly fell asleep. She often expressed herself as ready and anxious to go. On Sunday, at 12:30 short services were held at the residence by Rev. Monroe Drew. Rev. D. H. Fouse conducted another service after which all that was left of her was laid to rest in Cairo Bethel. An enormous concourse testified their affection for the long afflicted little one by their presence. Bessie was born in Cairo, June 4, 1882, so was a little under 19 when she died. She always had the tenderest care of an affectionate mother and sisters and friends.
