Henry Cutkomp was born in Germany, December 25, 1826. He died at his home in Columbus City, Saturday, November 27, 1897. He consequently lacked less than a month of being 71 years old at the time of his death. He immigrated to America in 1847, first settling in Little York, Pennsylvania. Here in 1848 he was married to Miss Sarah Barry, who survives to mourn his loss after a union of almost 50 years. To them were born nine children, six of who survive the father, These are Jame, wife of Wm Pretz; H. T. Cutkomp; Catherine, wife of M. D. Hanft; Lewis Cutkomp, Ida, wife of Thomas Stark; and Leona, wife of Benjamin Cutcomp. All reside in this vicinity. Mr. Cutkomp was the pioneer of his family to try his fortunes in the new world. For several years prior to his death he had been a member of the Free Methodist church and the funeral services, which occurred Monday was conducted by Rev. Deford, of that organization. Mr. Cutkomp was a good citizen, an honest man, he leaves a family who follows closely in his footsteps.
