Ethel E., youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Noland, died August 12, 1897, aged three years, seven months and eight days. Little Ethel was sick but 24 hours and scarcely any of the neighbors knew she was sick until the news came that she was dead. On Wednesday evening she took a congestive chill. Dr. Cone was immediately summoned but all that medical skill and loving hands could do, could not warm the little hands and feet and on the next evening at 5:30 she passed away. One of the sad things was the Mr. Noland, Maude and Vet were absent; Mr. Noland at Fairport on business and the children at Muscatine visiting, none of them reaching home until several hours after her death. The funeral was held at the Oakland church on Saturday at 10 a. m., conducted by the M. E. pastor, Rev. Osborne, who delivered a very touching sermon, after which was the interment at Beauchamp cemetery.
