Joel Collins was born in Estle county, Kentucky, in November, 1815, and died at his home in Oakland township June 26, 1897. His age, therefore was almost 82 years. He was married four times, in 1836 to May W. Barker; in 1851 to Harriet Pall; in 1855 to Ruan Horton and in 1872 to E. L. Holland, who survives him. He was the father of thirteen children. Mr. Collins was a member of the Christian church having associated himself with that organization at the age of 17 years. The funeral occurred from Oakland church, Sunday, June 27, at 2:30 p. m., conducted by Rev. Milne of Nichols. Interment at the Beauchamp cemetery.
