Mr. Thomas B. Shellabarger was born in Louisa county, Iowa, march 28, 1857, and died April 3, 1897. This would make his age at the time of his death, 40 years and 5 days. On the 11th day of May, 1881, he was united in marriage to Sarah M. Westlake. To this union seven children were born; five sons and two daughters, Leroy and Syvilla preceding him to the Glory Land. Matilda, Perry, Earl, Ralph and Russell with their mother are left to mourn his loss. Besides his wife and children he leaves his aged father and mother and five brothers; Jake, Charley and Will living near Fredonia, Harve at Letts and Kossuth, near Independence. He has been a sufferer for the past 15 years, but since January 1, 1897, he had been confined to his room. He died happy, trusting in the Lord Jesus as his savior. His remains were laid to rest in Indian Creek cemetery. Services conducted by Bro Hamil.
