Oliver McGrew

LETTS -
Oliver P. McGrew, 79, died Friday, May 9, in Muscatine General hospital.
A life resident of the Grandview-Letts area, McGrew was born near Grandview on Aug. 28, 1878, the son of Matthew and Sarah Hurst McGrew. He was twice married. His first wife was Maud Reed, who died in December of 1915. In 1931 he was married to Mrs. Hattie Gage, who died in June of 1953.
Surviving are a son and two daughters: Perry McGrew, Traer; Mrs. Lawrence Brookhart, Illinois City, Ill., and Mrs. Sylvia Fuhlman, of Letts: 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and a sister: Earl McGrew, Lincoln, Neb., Clarence McGrew and Mrs. Kate Lytle, both of Dupuyer, Mont., and Charles McGrew of Grandview, and a stepson and two stepdaughters: Louder Gage, Cranston; Mrs. Ola Hudgel, Moline, Ill., and Mrs. Sylvia Brown, of Des Moines. A son, Willis McGrew, died previously, as did two grandsons, David and Thomas McGrew.
The Rev. Max Allen of Cranston will conduct last rites at the United Brethren church of Letts at 2 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Grandview. The body is at the Stephens funeral home, in Columbus Junction.
