Died at her home in Washington county, Iowa, Aug. 17, 1895, Mrs. Catherine Foster, wife of Joseph Foster, aged 70 years, 6 months and 6 days. The subject of this notice was born in the state of Ohio, Feb. 11, 1825. Her maiden name was Catherine Dyke. She was married to Joseph Foster in September, 1847. Six children were born to them but two of whom are ow living, James and David, both living in Washington county. The deceased children are John, who died in Illinois at the age of 38; Emma, died in Illinois at the age of 25; Elizabeth, died in Iowa, aged 25; Mary Jane, died in Iowa, aged 5. Mrs. Foster united with the German Reformed church, soon after removal to Iowa, of which she remained a member to the time of her death. She enjoyed to the highest degree the confidence and respect of the community which she lived; unpretentious, kindly, motherly, lovely. Her funeral was from the Bethel church, Aug. 19, conducted by Rev. Fouse. Interment at Union cemetery.
