An old pioneer of Riverside and later of Columbus Junction was called to rest March 8, 1895. He came to Iowa in 1854, locating in the vicinity of Riverside and from there he went to Columbus Junction which continued to be his home until his death, which was caused by dropsy of the heart. H. B. Carr was born in Pompey, N. Y. May 28, 1823, his age being 71 years, 9 months and 10 days. The remains were taken to riverside for burial. A large concourse of friends were gathered at the M. E. church of which his brothers Chauncey is a prominent member. The pastor, Rev. Paine, conducted a short service. He was married to Lovina J. Morgan at Aurora, Ill, Aug. 14, 1856, who with two sons and a daughter survive him. The eldest son Al, residing near Allerton, Iowa, was unable to be present on account of sickness in his family. The second son, Jay, of Fredonia and the daughter, Mrs. Amy Duncan, of Columbus Junction were present, as were his brothers, Chauncey and Hobart and his sister, Mrs. Mary Hardy, all of Riverside. Three brothers and one sister were unable to attend the funeral. His father, mother, two brothers and two sisters receded him to the home beyond.
