T. J. Johnston. The notice of whose death we published last week, was an old resident of this vicinity and the last of the Johnson brothers, long prominent farmers in the community. These are John, Newton, Harvey and T. J. All these were with us only a few years since; now all are on the "other side."

T. J. Johnson was born in Tennessee, April 12, 1839. He came with his folks to Iowa in a very early day. In 1892 he entered the union army, giving his county faithful service for the full three years. In 1865, September 25, he was married to Miss Maggie A. McConnell, at Columbus city. She with four children, two girls and two boys, survive to morn the great loss that has come to them. Mr. Johnson's health had not been good for some years, though his fatal illness was of but a few weeks duration. He was buried on the day following his death, from the U.P. Church, of which organization he had long been a faithful member. Services were conducted by Rev. J. A. Greer.
