John Thorley, formerly a citizen of this vicinity, died at his home in Muscatine, March 1, 1892, aged about 62 years. He was brought to his old home in Columbus City and buried the following day. He leaves a wife and three children, two daughters and a son, to mourn his departure. Besides these he leaves two sisters, Mrs. C. F. Butler and Mrs. Dill of this place, a brother in Ohio and a half brother and sister in Cass county. He was born in Virginia, lived in Ohio for some years and settled in this county, Columbus City, in 1856. Removed to Muscatine in 1881. His wife was Miss Flora Hanna, daughter of the late Wm. Hanna. He had been sick for some time. He was a carpenter by trade and an industrious and respected citizen.
