Fairview, January 8-There was a very solemn time at the Fairview church last Thursday. It was the funeral of John Henry Hannon who was shot in the left arm on Christmas day. He was about three-fourths of a mile from the home of M. J. Deihl, for whom he was working. He had been at Elrick and the accident happened when he was returning. The load entered above the elbow and came out close to the shoulder on the under part of the arm, tearing the bone completely to splinters. He lived eight days and seemed to be doing well until lockjaw set in which soon did its work of death. The funeral was preached by Rev. Willette of Wapello to a well packed house. John will be greatly missed by his many friends and associates. His age was 21 years, 7 months and 2 days.
