It was the son of Geo. M. Isett, ? of C. J. Ives, who was drowned in the river at Wapello last week. It was a very sad event: the first of the kind at that place in a great many years. The little fellow had just put on his skates and taken a stride of two when he made the fatal plunge. None of his companions were near him at the time and no one saw him go down through he was immediately missed. It is reported that Cas. Taylor came up in time to seize him by the hand, but the mitten gave way and the little fellow was carried away by the current. Immediately when the alarm was given hundreds of willing hands were cutting the ice below and experienced men were set to grappling for the body. It was rescued about two hundred feet below where the accident happened. He was nine years. He was a bright, active and obedient boy. His sorrowing parents have the sincerest sympathy in the terrible bereavement.

Wapello- Jan 2- The drowning of little Sprague Isett last week has caused more sorrow than any death here for a long time. He skated into an air hole under the bridge and was found a couple hours afterward ten or twelve rods below. The ice was broken away from the ripple up to the bridge and the river dragged.
