P.C. Wagner was born in York county, Pennsylvania, May 8, 1820 and died December 20, 1892, aged seventy- two years, seven months and twelve days. In 1889 he was attacked by that dread disease paralysis, which gradually worked its course. He was the youngest of a family of eight children, all of whom preceded him in death. In the year 1842 he was united in marriage to Catherine Straw. They were blessed with a family of eight children, of whom four are now living. These are Mrs. Mary Wabnitz, of Letts; John, of Nichols; Mrs. Allie Lowe, of Fredonia, and the youngest son, Charles P. with whom the have been making their home. He leaves, to mourn his loss, a widow, four children, twenty-seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In 1842 he joined the Evangelical association of which he has been a consistent member. At an early age he learned the cabinet makers trade and in 1837 he engaged in the undertaking business at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In 1855 he removed with his family to Iowa, locating at Grandview and continuing his chosen profession until 1889. The funeral was held Friday, December 23, from the evangelical church, conduced by Rev. Schrader, pastor. The undertaker was Aaron Park, of Wilton. Interment in Grandview cemetery.
