With him she came to Columbus Junction in 1883 and this continued her home tot he time of death.

In 1872 she was converted and united with the Baptist church. After removing to the place, there being no Baptist congregation here, she united first with the Evangelical church, afterwards with the Methodist, in which she was a devoted Christian worker up to the very hour of her death.

Mrs. Owen was the mother of three children, one of whom died in his infancy, the other two Maggie and Harry, now almost grown to man and womanhood, survive with their father to mourn their great loss. Of the family of five brothers and five sisters she was the first to go. Those remaining are, brothers, A. The surviving sisters are Amanda Parson, of this place, Elizabeth Ogier, near here, Isabella Johnston, near the City, and Emma Weir, Barnard, Kansas. Owing to sickness and other intervening causes, only four of all this large family weer permitted to attend the last sad rites to a loved sister. The funeral occurred from the Methodist church, Tuesday, April 5. Rev. W. C. Chew officiating. His text Revelation 12. A large audience of sympathetic friends testified their esteem for the deceased and her mourning family by their attendance. Mrs. Owen will be greatly missed, especially in church work, as she was a most earnest and devout working Christian. The friends have the deep sympathy of all in their great sorrow.
