OBITUARY. Joseph Reaney was born October 31, 1823 in county Loudonderry, Ireland and died at his home in Fredonia, Iowa, Friday, March 8th, 1889, aged 65 years, 4 months and 8 days. He was married to Miss Eliza Turkington July 28, 1854. Eight children, five boys and three girls, was the result of this union, all of whom with the mother, survive to mourn his departure. In 1863 he immigrated to this country, first settling at Chester, Pennsylvania, where he was employed eight years in his brother's ship yard. In 1871 he came to Iowa and located on the farm where he died. he had been a member of the Presbyterian church for more than forty years and had loved all that time a consistnet, every day Christian life. He died in the full assurance of the realization of the Christian's hope beyond. the funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. E. McElihinney of the Presbyterian church of this place. Interment occurred at the Fredonia cemetery attended by a large crowd of people who testified by their presence at the last sad rites to the dead their appreciation of and love for the living.
